Things I Never Expected

Never in my life did I expect that, to be a teacher, I would need to spend so much money! I mean teachers really do not get paid that much anyway and add on top of that all the money teachers spend in their classes, on their students, on professional growth, on teaching tools, manipulatives, and in their classroom library- I need a raise!

I know that there are many other professions who supply many of their needs- hmm.... well right now I am not coming up with any, but I know they are out there.

Right now I am just thankful that I have been blessed with the most wonderful husband, who has not fussed too much about my spending so much lately. Actually, he has not fussed at all, just simply stated "We have spent------ much money on your class so far. Do you think it will be much more? If so I might need to take a second job to pay for your first job." Then he hugged me and told me how much he loved that I loved children.

I am going to do better at the spending thing. I only have a few more things to buy.
Andrew's school clothes
Katelynn Grace's school clothes
magazine holders --yes I need 42 of those too
material for bulletin boards- or maybe fade less paper(didn't know they had that)

I know it will all get done. I have over a month, so how come it feels like my summer is already over...... Why am I up at 2 am? I am reading, about teaching!

I will remember to say prayers for all those precious teachers who did this same thing for me over the years.

I will remember to say a prayer for all the wonderful teachers who will inspire my children this year and in the years to come.

Most importantly- I am so thankful to live in a country where education is still free for the public! That is not true of all countries. - did not know that until recently either.

Here I go....

Well- as I have learned so much from several blogs about teaching, parenting, friends, and life in general- I am starting one of my own.

I do not know if anyone will ever read this, except for friends and family, but I will be teaching writing this year and needed a place to write. I will be attempting several different genres of writing as the year passes.

This will also be a journal of what my life is like as a first year teacher, while being a parent, wife, daughter, sister, co-worker, and friend. Sometimes I am sure I will vent- but in general I am a very positive person and I hope that will be apparent.

I am a Christian. I define that to mean I believe ...."it is by Grace I have been saved, not by works least no one should boast...."; "....the only way to the Father is through Jesus Christ, the Son...."; "...if you confess Me to men, I will be faithful and just to confess you to my Father, who is in Heaven..." but if you are not a Christian take heart- I will not be preaching :) but I will not betray who I am or what I believe either. Give me a chance.

My Favorite Scripture-

" I know the plans I have for you, plans to bless you not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future. If you seek me with your whole heart, I will be found by you

This reminds me that- no matter what happens in this world- If I keep my eyes on Him- I will find Him.
